Cebu cuts budget for Independence Day celebration

CEBU CITY — The city government has slashed the budget for this year's 126th Independence Day celebration from P11 million to P3 million.

Acting mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia assured residents that the essential activities to mark the special day will be meaningful.

The pavilion houses a Christian cross that was planted by the Spanish explorers led by Ferdinand Magellan upon their arrival in Cebu on April 21, 1521. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
