Marcos won't attend Ukraine Peace Summit

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will not attend the Ukraine Peace Summit to be held from June 15 to 16 in Switzerland, Malacañang said Tuesday.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said the President designated Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Carlito Galvez Jr. as the country's representative to the global peace summit.
The PCO did not provide any explanation as to why the President could not attend.
Malacañang confirmed on June 3 that the Philippines will participate in the Swiss-organized peace conference but did not disclose if Marcos will attend, saying it has yet to be finalized.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was in Malacañang on June 3, said the country's participation in the peace summit is a 'very strong signal.' Prior to Zelenskyy's visit to Manila, the Ukrainian government expressed hope that Marcos would join the summit, saying that the Philippine government's participation 'is highly valued as it can offer fresh insights and strengthen the collaborative effort needed to resolve conflicts.'
