THE House "investigation and review of the cases of slain victims of the war on drugs and all related atrocities" is a door that opens into the past. A past that isn't too distant yet overshadowed by today's crises, especially the rising tensions in the West Philippine Sea and economic hardship brought about by the devastating effects of the El Niño.
Many Filipinos might not be interested in revisiting the past. Does it really matter whether it was 6,000, 20,000 or 100,000 suspected drug personalities who were killed by the police and their civilian hitmen? Do we need to know who played God when and where? After all, Rodrigo Duterte was elected on the promise of waging a bloody war on drugs.
