SEN. Imee Marcos has criticized the government's proposal to lower the rice tariff from 35 percent to 15 percent as an "ill-conceived" solution to the rice crisis in the country.

On Thursday, the senator described the move as a "ham-fisted" solution to bring down the high cost of rice for consumers.
