WITHOUT evidence, claims are merely statements of opinion. In this article, research data about divorce are presented — empirical findings from various credible sources, not from the Philippines of course, as there is none yet. This brings discourse to a higher level, as critical thinking adds value to greater understanding, respect for diverse opinions, better decisions and evidence-based policy formulation. The findings neither intend to generalize nor presume that they apply to the Philippine experience, but somehow can stimulate thinking and more evidence-based exchanges for the greater and deeper understanding of this very complex issue — divorce.
