MANILA, Philippines — The Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) retrieved supplies that were airdropped for Filipino troops at the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal on May 19, 2024, to inspect for construction materials in accordance with the agreement with the Philippine government prohibiting their delivery to the grounded warship.
"A correction and clarification must be made of the erroneous report alleging the Chinese Coast Guard seized and dumped overboard the air dropped supplies," said Herman Tiu Laurel, president of Manila-based tAsian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute (ACPSSI) president, citing information provided by the Chinese Embassy in Manila and Chinese correspondents.
