PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the Philippines would embrace its role as a trusted partner, credible pathfinder and committed peacemaker as he made a pitch for the country's candidacy to the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

In his speech during the 21st International Institute for Strategic Studies Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Saturday, Marcos underscored the country's strong potential, given its "inevitable rise" in global standing.
