THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday it was monitoring a tropical storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility. The state-run weather bureau said that as of 3 a.m. on Saturday, Tropical Storm Maliksi was sighted 1,065 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It was moving northward at 10 kph. No weather advisory on Maliksi was issued. It added that easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, were the only weather conditions affecting the country. Pagasa said that Metro Manila and the rest of the country could experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
