(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed into law a measure that seeks to protect and ensure the welfare of entertainment workers, particularly those in film and television, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
Republic Act (RA) 11996, or the Act Protecting the Welfare of Workers in the Movie and Television Industry, was signed on May 24. The new law provides for the implementation of work hours, wages and other wage-related benefits, social security and welfare benefits, basic necessities, health and safety, working conditions and standards, and insurance.
