THE Philippines and the United Kingdom recently solidified their commitment to upholding international standards with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the recognition of seafarers' certificates.
Represented by the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) of the Philippines and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency of the United Kingdom, the MoU is a landmark agreement that underscores the shared dedication to the International Convention on the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers, 1978, as amended.
