A CONSUMER group from Davao has called on the members of the House Committee on Legislative Franchises to reconsider its decision on junking a bill that would expand the franchise area of Davao Light and Power Company, noting that the bill could help the misery of electricity consumers paying higher power rates.
In a statement on Friday, the Davao Consumer Movement (DCM) slammed the failure of the panel to approve House Bill (HB) 6740, which would include Tagum City, the Island Garden City of Samal, and the municipalities of Asuncion, Kapalong, New Corella, San Isidro and Talaingod in the province of Davao del Norte, and the Municipality of Maco in the Davao de Oro to the franchise area of the Davao Light and Power Company Incorporated, which amends Republic Act 11515.
