AGHON has intensified into a typhoon but it is moving away and has crossed the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

Weather specialist Rhea Torres said Aghon is packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
