DoE asked to put cap on power rates

BACOLOD CITY - Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has asked the Department of Energy (DoE) to implement a price cap on electricity rates to prevent it from further increasing.

Benitez said there 'are provisions in the Electric Power Industry Reform Act that allows the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to impose a price cap on electricity rates under certain circumstances such as the drought that has had devastating effects on the economy.'
