HAILING from the picturesque province of La Union to the Flores-Zafra-Villa-Cariaso clan, Joanne Cariaso-Gacayan mounted her maiden solo exhibition titled "Enlace," intricately merged the themes of "binding" and "lace" to poignantly depict the profound relationship between mother and child. Through a collection of candid portrayals, spanning various life stages, she masterfully encapsulated this bond, weaving it with delicate lace motifs in vibrant watercolor compositions on archival paper.
The exhibition also paid homage to the influential women, who have shaped her life, both as mothers and individuals, alongside still life depictions that evoked nostalgic memories of maternal figures from her collective past.
