IN the recent hacking incident at the Department of Science and Technology (DoST), at least three websites were defaced. The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) has assured, however, that no sensitive data was breached and no ransom was demanded from the government agency.
Cyberattacks like ransomware are getting faster and more sophisticated. IBM's 2024 X-Force Threat Intelligence Index observed that malware was the most observed action, representing 45 percent of attacks in Asia-Pacific. Of the total malware incidents, ransomware cases led by 17 percent.
