BANSKA BYSTRICA, Slovakia – Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico's condition has stabilized but is still "very serious," his deputy said on Thursday, a day after the premier was shot multiple times in an attack the government in the capital Bratislava decried as "political assault."
Surgeons spent hours in the operating room overnight, battling to save the 59-year-old head of government after the attack, which has been condemned around the world.
