It was not even close. Nikola Jokic got 79 out of 99 first place votes. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander only had 15. That was honestly shocking, more than the heated debates that eventually came out.
Every year, the NBA Most Valuable Player award is awarded, and there will always be a debate, it is always the wrong choice. Some arguments are weak, and some seasons had a clear cut MVP. The 2000 Shaquille O' Neal and 2015 Steph Curry wins are examples. Shaq had one person not giving his first place vote. Steph had the first unanimous win.
