MERALCO PowerGen Corp. (MGen) said Wednesday that subsidiary PacificLight Power Pte. Ltd. (PLP) had been granted approval to build, own and operate power-generating units by Singapore's Energy Market Authority.
The units will provide 100 megawatts (MW) of "Fast Start" generation capacity by the second quarter of 2025, MGen said in a statement, adding that these would reinforce Singapore's goal to ensure uninterrupted power.
