THE average price of electricity increased in April due to a surge in demand, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines Inc. (IEMOP) said on Sunday.
The operator of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market said the average price for the month was P6.90 per kilowatt hour (kWh), up by 33 percent from P5.19 per kWh from March, driven by the increase in daily electricity demand in April or an average of 14,375 megawatts from 13,165 MW in March.
