BEIJING: The death toll from a highway collapse in southern China rose to 48, state media reported on Thursday, as rescue work continued.
Heavy rains caused a stretch of road running from Meizhou City toward Dabu County in Guangdong province to cave in at about 2:10 a.m. on Wednesday, state-run Xinhua News Agency said.
