DepEd 'concerned, alarmed' on violence against minors

MANILA, Philippines:The Department of Education (DepEd) said that it was 'deeply concerned and alarmed' over the increasing number of killings among minors, especially girls, following the death of a student while answering her learning modules at home in Cebu province on Friday.

Authorities said the Grade 7 student was answering her modules when an unknown number of men arrived at her home in Talisay City and fired shots, one of which hit her.
