The peso edged higher and the stock market also rose on Tuesday with sentiment said to have been boosted by an easing in Middle East tensions.

The currency strengthened by 3 centavos to P57.51 against the dollar while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) added 62.72 points, or 0.97 percent, to close at 6,506.80.
