'Maratabat' — a rare bird in PH literature

'Maratabat: A Novel on Rido and Revenge Justice' — a portrayal of revenge killing as a longstanding tradition in Maranao society — has been a long time coming.

Maratabat is akin to 'honor killing' and yet encompasses more. It embodies the mental, social, psychological, and spiritual makeup of the Maranao, his raison d'etre so to speak.

The book is a welcome addition to the Philippines’ growing body of literature.
