JUDGING from war and peace-related news nowadays, it would seem that countries cannot help but be aware of the absence of an international arms control agreement, i.e., the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (1987) which ended when President Donald Trump announced US withdrawal from the treaty claiming Russia had broken the agreement.

The absence of arms control agreements could pave the way for a new arms race and for the increased use of nuclear weapons in the light of trends in the preparation for a defensive war. Thus, the global military apparatus is witnessing technology trends to strengthen capabilities.
