SATURDAY before last was a surprising journey down memory lane. Mentong (Herman Tiu Laurel), of the long-running commentary program "Global News Talk Revolution" — actually a renamed revival of a show that aired for many years on PTV4 under the courageous brand "Ang Maestro Atbp.: The Unfinished Revolution!" and which he co-anchored with Ado Paglinawan — had called, saying he and Ado would pick me up at six in the morning all the way from my home in Antipolo to attend the wake of the departed comrade, former Isafp (Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines) chief MGen. Victor "Vic" Corpus.
It was rather a pity that Vic's remains had been immediately cremated and what we came upon at the chapel in Camp Aguinaldo was the marble urn containing his ashes guarded by soldiers in gala uniform who took turns at the altar.
