AGRICULTURE Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. appointed on Wednesday Isidro Velayo Jr. as the new officer in charge (OIC) of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) following the dismissal of Director Demosthenes Escoto due to a graft case.
In a special order dated April 17, Tiu Laurel said that Velayo "shall perform the functions, duties and responsibilities inherent to the designation and such others as directed by the [Agriculture] secretary."
