Peso drop not enough to affect policy direction

THE peso's plunge versus the dollar is not yet significant enough to significantly affect the direction of monetary policy, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr. said.

The currency weakened further on Wednesday, closing at P57.184 against the greenback, after hitting a near 17-month low a day earlier.
