THE Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) has partnered with the Center for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) in identifying a potential biocontrol agent that may help stave off infestations of fall armyworm (FAW).
Evelyn Valdez, PhilRice senior science research specialist, said their team has been monitoring FAW infestations in Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Central Luzon (Region 3) and Cordillera Autonomous Region. Samples of fungus-infected FAW were collected during their site monitoring.
