Leadership, Philippine style

THERE is no doubt that leadership is an indispensable component for the success of any organization, be it at the national, local government or community level. The political, social and economic environment influences and shapes features of leadership unique to the Philippines. The country's history is also an important factor.

In the study of public administration and governance, leadership is a very important subject. It is usually offered during the last semester of the course as a culminating subject. Graduate students are asked to write a case study on a Filipino leader, whether at the public sector or private sector level. The study is usually presented to a panel of reactors as a requirement for graduation.
