ILOILO CITY: The Department of Health office in Western Visayas (DoH-6) said low vaccination rate triggered the significant spike in pertussis cases in the region this year.
"One of the primary reasons for the increase in pertussis cases is the low immunization coverage in the region. Unfortunately, immunization coverage has taken a drastic turn for the worse as the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country," said Dr. Adriano Suba-an, DoH-6 director, in a virtual press briefing on Wednesday, April 3.
