MANILA, Philippines: Philippine boxing has risen on Easter Sunday.

Melvn Jerusalem gave the Philippines its first and lone world champion in three months after dethroning Japanese Yudai Shigeoka via split decision in their World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight crown match at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya, Japan on March 31.
