CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: The reported cases of pertussis or whooping cough that affected children in a remote barangay here are not a cause for alarm as they are concentrated in a Mangyan community and have been treated, the provincial health officer here said.
Provincial health officer Cielo Ante, in her text messages to The Manila Times, said they have documented 13 pertussis cases from the remote barangay of Lisap in Bongabong town. The children, she said, are being treated at the Oriental Mindoro Southern District Hospital in the adjacent town of Roxas.
