THE Philippines and the European Union will officially resume negotiations for a free trade agreement sometime in the last half of 2024, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said, but preliminary work has already started following the restart's announcement last week.

"The formal start of the face-to-face negotiation will be around the early second half of the year, possibly the third quarter," Pascual told reporters, "because there's a lot of preparatory work to be done."
