COMMISSION on Higher Education (CHEd) chairman J. Prospero de Vera 3rd on Saturday urged higher education institutions (HEIs) to ensure that students are properly consulted in the crafting of student policies consistent with the law.

De Vera's statement comes after students of the Eulogio "Amang" Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (Earist) criticized their school administration after a viral video showed the hair of a transgender student being cut before they were allowed to enroll.
