Police nab scammers using name of first lady

The police on Thursday warned scammers using the name of the first family following the arrest by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) earlier this week of three men who tried to extort P5 million from a businessman by dropping the name of First Lady Marie Louise 'Liza' Araneta-Marcos.

The gun-toting suspects were collared in an entrapment operation in Pasay City and will face charges of robbery extortion, PNP-CIDG chief P/Major General Romeo Caramat Jr. said.
