The police on Thursday warned scammers using the name of the first family following the arrest by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) earlier this week of three men who tried to extort P5 million from a businessman by dropping the name of First Lady Marie Louise "Liza" Araneta-Marcos.
The gun-toting suspects were collared in an entrapment operation in Pasay City and will face charges of robbery extortion, PNP-CIDG chief P/Major General Romeo Caramat Jr. said.
