Ex-Customs official and lawyer disbarred

THE Supreme Court has ordered the disbarment of a lawyer for claiming that he has authority to sell vehicles confiscated by the Bureau of Customs (BoC).

The high court said Jorge Monroy, a former BoC director, was guilty of violating the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability. He was ordered to pay a P20,000 fine for disobeying orders of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
