(UPDATE) THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday it has dismissed from duty 131 policemen for various offenses, as part of its ongoing effort to clean up its ranks.

"Sixty-two were AWOL cases. The others were grave offenses, including robbery, illegal drugs, obstruction of justice and conduct unbecoming a police officer," said PNP spokesman Col. Jean Fajardo.
