TUMAUINI, Isabela: A 47-year-old rider died on the spot after a truck rammed the motorcycle he was riding in an accident along the national road in Barangay Minanga on Sunday morning, February 18, a police report said.
Cpt. Scarlette Topinio, Isabela Police public information officer, identified the fatality as Ernesto Aranda Jr., 47, of Quirino town in Isabela.
The truck driver, Junkey Buquinkito of Valencia, Negros Oriental surrendered to the police.
Probers said the motorcycle of Aranda swerved to the lane of the truck, resulting in a head-on collision.
Due to strong impact, Aranda was thrown away, his head hitting the pavement while sustaining injuries in the body. He was officially declared dead on arrival at the Tumauini Community Hospital.
A homicide due to reckless imprudence is being readied against the truck driver.
