LIZA Soberano was at the peak of her career in the Philippines when, at the age of 24, she decided to stop making romantic comedies, or rom-coms, and head for a career in Hollywood.

Bashers online accused her of that most grievous of Filipino faults — lack of gratitude. She was supposed to be grateful for the showbiz industry that provided her family with the wherewithal to raise 10 children in comfort.
