THE Five Elements theory — which focused on the influences of earth, metal, wood, fire and water on the possible course of future events — was an essential aspect of feng shui. Each of these five elements had its own individual characteristics, and the interactions between these elements were believed to influence the energy in a particular space; thus, they needed to be balanced properly.

In her recent Annual Chinese New Year Updates for the Year of the Wood Dragon, international feng shui master Marites Allen devoted some time to discussing how these elements might affect the profitability of certain industries in 2024.
