MANILA, Philippines: Retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio on Wednesday said the country is on the right track in asserting its sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) but at the same time called on the government to employ a "systematic" approach in combating the massive disinformation campaign by China and "continue to rely on international law since it has no "credible self-defense force." Carpio commended President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s efforts to renew ties with the United States and engage with other countries to conduct joint patrols in the WPS unlike in the previous administration, which lacked political will.
