MANILA, Philippines: A former Health undersecretary was appointed to the second highest post in the World Health Organization's (WHO) Western Pacific Region, the Department of Health (DoH) said on Thursday.
Dr. Susan Pineda-Mercado was named director for programme management (DPM), the first Filipino to the post, by Dr. Saia Ma'u Piukala of Tonga, the new WHO regional director for the Western Pacific, whose appointment was also released on the same day.
