DA targets higher pompano production

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) backs private sector initiatives to boost local pompano production, noting its potential as an alternative to milkfish.

Citing government data, the DA said that the domestic yield of pompano amounted to only 457 metric tons (MT) in 2022, or less than 3 percent of the total imports of 16,004 MT for the same year.
