THE government has given the green light for an initial funding of P5 billion to directly purchase sugar from farmers as a measure to address the declining prices of the commodity.
In a statement on Sunday, the United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines (Unifed) said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the budget allocated to directly procure sugar from farmers.
