FOR American forces using nine of our military bases, is it a big security risk that the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) tasked with operating, maintaining and developing our country's power transmission network is 40 percent owned by a state enterprise of a possible war adversary?

State Grid Corp. of China is a venture partner of the billionaire Sy family's SM conglomerate and tycoon Robert Coyuito, who together own 60 percent of NGCP, now embroiled in a controversy over the recent four-day blackout on Panay Island.
