THE Philippine tax scene is abuzz again with the passage of Republic Act 11976, or the 'Ease of Paying Taxes Act' (Eopta), on Jan. 5, 2024. The main objective of the Act is to provide a healthy environment for the taxpaying public, safeguard taxpayer rights and welfare, and assure fair treatment of all taxpayers. It also aims to modernize tax administration and improve mechanisms that encourage proper and easy compliance with the least cost possible.
