THE Department of Transportation (DoTr) plans to start inviting prospective bidders for the privatization of the operations and maintenance of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) by the second half of the year.

DoTr Undersecretary for Planning and Project Development Timothy John Batan said the agency "will act within the month" on the pending proposals from San Miguel Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. to rehabilitate, operate and maintain the MRT-3.
