Seafarer turned inventor shares trials and triumphs of the trade

ELVIS Selisana, at first glance, seems to be a typical retired seafarer.

His deep, intelligent eyes are set in a small, leathery face lined with decades of smiles and frowns. His stride and stance radiate a silent pride of accomplishments from years past. He has stories to tell, loads of them, in an animated, gregarious manner common among Filipino seafarers.
