Did the Lopez family get back ABS-CBN too easily in 1986?

WHEN you hear many people talk about the story of how ABS-CBN was returned to the Lopezes after the People Power Revolution of 1986, 14 years after the Marcos government closed down the station in 1972, it would seem that the government of President Cory Aquino handed it to them on a platter despite supposedly owing the government money. Hence, so the story goes, ABS-CBN was able to easily regain its place as 'the Philippines' largest network.' This is actually very far from the truth.
